Welcome to the “Friends of Havenwood Park” (FOHP) Blog!

This “Friends of Havenwood Park” blog has been created to help promote and conserve the natural environmental features of this nature park.

Propertius Duskywing (Erynnis propertius)

The  endangered Garry Oak Meadows found on the park’s rocky outcroppings are home to species such as the rare and endangered Propertius duskywing butterfly.

Common Camas (Camassia quamash)

Photographs and videos taken in the park will be an important feature on this blog.

Visitors to the park will often encounter wildlife, such as the Coastal mule deer and California quail.

Three Toed Woodpecker (Picoides tridactylus-Linnaeus)

The park contains numerous wildlife trees and a Three-toed Woodpecker benefits from feeding on insects living in this one .

FOHP volunteers support the Habitat Acquisition Trust (H.A.T.) which is a non-profit regional land trust and holder of the conservation covenant for Havenwood Park enabling the City of Colwood to provide long term environmental protection for this nature park.
